Message from the Chair
We believe that reporting on progress toward the achievement of our goals is an essential part of the accountability relationship we have with our many stakeholders. As a publicly assisted institution, the U of C is accountable to the provincial government and we report to them accordingly. More importantly, the U of C is directly accountable to our students, our faculty, our staff, our alumni and our community. This annual report is one of the ways we are communicating to our stakeholders about our university’s progress over the past year.

Message from the Presidents
We are pleased to present the University of Calgary’s annual report, celebrating the accomplishments of our students, faculty and staff for the year ending March 31, 2009. We would like to thank them for their contribution to helping us achieve our objectives related to student success, high-quality research and scholarship, and return to community. We would also like to thank the community that sustains and nurtures us, and has contributed in many ways to the development of the U of C. Your investment and engagement with the U of C is essential to the future of this country.
