The Program of Dance welcomes seven students of the Maison de la Danse in Istres, France, along with Director Jean Louis Columb Bouvardand choreographer Christine Fricker of Compagnie Itinerrances (France). Fricker is a return guest, having launched the international project with the performance of Compagnie Itinerrances in the University Theatre last spring. The young French dancers will spend one week dancing, sharing ideas with U of C dance students and presenting Fricker’s work in a series of informal performances. This initiates an exchange which will see U of C dance instructor Melissa Monteros’ professional work with W&M Physical Theatre, University of Calgary dance students as well as dancers from Calgary’s Surge Company, travel to Marseille, France, Oulu, Finland and Lublin, Poland to present performances and participate in classes.
