The Clowns are at Taking Flight!

2008 Festival features a performance facilitated by John Turner,  “Smoot” of “Mump & Smoot”

The Department of Drama's fourth annual festival of student work will  feature An Evening of Clown by a company of 11 students facilitated  by resident guest artist John Turner (“Smoot” of “Mump & Smoot”).  Taking Flight, the Annual Festival of Student Work, runs from April 1  to April 12 in the Reeve Theatre at the University of Calgary.

Taking Flight allows the public an opportunity to see the cumulative  work of Drama classes on campus. The festival is unique in Calgary in  its diversity and range of performances with selections extending  from staged readings by graduate level playwrights, to performance  creation and improvisation, to complete one act plays by some of the  world's most respected playwrights.

The two-week festival is a matchless opportunity for student  performers, designers and technicians to be celebrated. The shows are electrifying and the experience for both students and audiences is  irreplaceable.

A festival pass is $15; single tickets are $5. Tickets are available at the Campus Ticket Centre or call 220-7202.

In addition to An Evening of Clown, the first week will showcase  three works: The Terrible False Deception(A Four-Act in Forty Minutes or Forty-Two With Laughs) by Rafe Macpherson, Potentilla by Meg Braem, and This Is Our Solar System by Ayla Stephen with Christopher Duthie.
