beethovanThe Mountain View Connection is proud to present two bright young stars of the Calgary Philharmonic Orchestra, CPO Assistant Concertmaster Donovan Seidle (BMus, 99') and ‘cellist Kirill Kalmykov (MMus, 99'), in an all-Beethoven concert on Sunday, April 20 at 7:30 p.m. in the Eckhardt-Gramatté Recital Hall at the Rozsa Centre on the University of Calgary campus.
The concert presents different faces of Ludwig van Beethoven, with major works from each phase of his compositional life. Donovan will perform a youthful work by Beethoven, his "Sonata in E-flat Major, Op. 12, No. 3" with Mountain View Connection Artistic Director and brilliant pianist, Kathleen van Mourik (BMus, '90). Beethoven was only 28 when he published the piano and violin sonatas of his Op. 12.
Kirill will perform a magnificent late work of the master, the "Sonata in C major, Op. 102, No. 1", with well-known Calgary pianist Charles Foreman. Donovan will join Kirill and Charles for the finale, a performance of Beethoven’s famous “Ghost” Trio, Op. 70, No. 1, one of the staple works of the trio repertoire from Beethoven’s “heroic” middle period.
