Ahead of her class

CALGARY — It was a most impressive introduction.

There, at her Thursday news conference, was the chancellor of the University of Calgary, the dean of the Schulich School of Engineering and the coach of the women's field hockey team along with its 19 members who sat politely then laughed when the photographers began popping their flashes in paparazzi-like frenzy.

It's not often the U of Calgary, or any university, stages a full-out media session for a student athlete, let alone a freshman who has yet to take a class. Then again, Carolina Romeo is not your typical anything.
