$1.7-million grant to fight bioterrorism

The National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, part of the U.S. National Institutes of Health (NIH) has awarded the Faculty of Medicine's Donald Woods $1.7 million for research into vaccines against agents of bioterrorism.

Kids food—is it good or bad?

Nine out of 10 regular food items aimed specifically at children have a poor nutritional content—because of high levels of sugar, fat or sodium—according to a detailed study of 367 products led by Charlene Elliott, professor in the U of C’s Faculty of Communication and Culture, and published in the July issue of the UK-based journal Obesity Reviews.

Susan Skone from the Schulich School of Engineering is part of a team of experts who have joined forces for a massive project called the Understanding Severe Thunderstorms and Alberta Boundary Layers Experiment (UNSTABLE).
