Accelerating Research

Accelerating Research is the title of the Research Services Business Plan as created in 2002.  In order for Research Services to assist the University of Calgary in attaining its goal of vastly improving the ranking among research intense universities in Canada, it was determined that an aggressive and strategic plan of action was required.  This plan has been the basis for several new support and service programs that assist researchers in their efforts to submit the highest quality grant applications to our major funding agencies.

For example, researchers can now access help in the form of:

  • Strategic Planning Advices
  • Logistical/administrative support
  • Business Case Preparation support
  • Budget preparation assistance
  • Project management
  • Technical writing
  • Editing
  • Senior Scholar review

Research funding at the University of Calgary has increased since 2002, from $172 Million annually to $284 Million in 2005, thus we have made great strides to improve our ranking.

Each year, Research Services Staff and Management reviews and updates the Accelerating Research Plan through careful analysis of the current situation and the development of new or refinement of existing programs that will continue to enhance the Research Enterprise at the University of Calgary.

Accelerating Research is currently being updated for the coming fiscal year.
