The purpose of the Alberta Ingenuity Fund's (AIF) New Faculty Awards is to expand and strengthen Alberta's science and engineering research capacity by providing significant start-up support to new independent investigators. Each award provides up to $300,000 over three years.

Eligibility of Candidate

Candidates must have been appointed to their first ever academic research position within the past three years OR if not appointed at the time of application, the successful candidate must be in their first academic career appointment to a full-time position by the start date of the award. The appointment must be a tenure-track or potential tenure-track position for the candidate.

Internal Deadlines

The University of Calgary may submit a maximum of 15 applications to this program. As such, an internal application selection process will be put in place to decide which submissions will be put forth to AIF under the University of Calgary's quota.

Please note: All interested applicants must adhere to the internal deadlines. Applicants who do not meet the University of Calgary's internal deadlines will not be eligible to submit an application to AIF.
