Research

The Office of the Vice-President (Research & International) focuses on planning and policy issues, government and community relations, as well as having responsibility for such activities as chairs and institutes.

Services:

  • Research Services provides advice and assistance with sponsored research, grants and contracts for research and scholarly activities, help on University policy, procedures and requirements.
  • The Office of the Associate Dean, Research (Medical Research Office) provides information about research and related activities in the Faculty of Medicine, and provides assistance with sponsored research, grants, and contracts for the Faculty of Medicine.
  • Compliance and Certifications (including ethics) -  In order to ensure accountability, we take great care to be compliant with policies and procedures, reporting schedules, etc., as outlined by the funders, which demonstrates the value of, and benefits arising from on going research projects.
  • Research and Trust Accounting administers internal and external funds for research and scholarly activities.  (Research and Trust Accounting is in the process of joining Research Services)

  • Prizes and Awards: One critical measure of the quality of scholarship and related activities at the University of Calgary depends on the number of our University faculty members who have been recognized with appropriate prizes and awards.  

Institutes and Centres

  • Institutes and Centres:  Includes information about the establishment and review of Institutes and Centres, and a listing of Institutes on campus.

Chairs and Professorships

  • Chairs and Professorships are funded from the Canada Research Chairs program, the major granting councils, industry, endowments, private donors, and the University Professorships fund.
